The Truth about these "Icky" Green Smoothies are...
They really aren't that "Icky!"
They are quite delicious, actually.
Since this week we are learning about the Letter "I" we decided to make something "Icky."
Is that even a real word?? :)
Here's how you make these "Icky" things:
Green Smoothies
(The Kidamerinks Version)
2 large Bananas
2 Mangoes
1 cup Frozen Strawberries
1-2 cups Fresh Spinach
1 6oz. container Vanilla Yogurt
2-3 cups Water
5-6 Ice Cubes
**Disclaimer: This "Kidamerinks" Version is a typical smoothie that I make. You really can vary this recipe with whatever type of fruit you have on hand, or even use frozen fruit etc. I always use at least 1 banana in my recipe as a base flavor. You can also use Kale or Collard Greens for your "Greens." And, instead of yogurt for a sweetener, you could also use 100% juice (in place of water) or honey (but don't use honey if serving to your Kidamerinks' under 1yr.)
All of the ingredients.
I try to buy organic when I can, but I don't always. I had some mangoes that I needed to use up, so I used them in our Smoothie that day.
It's real simple! Put everything into your blender, add water and ice and then BLEND!!
You end up with this creamy goodness, full of lots of vitamins!!
And, there you have it... An "Icky" Green Smoothie.
Your kids will LOVE it!
My Kidamerink seriously gulps his down and begs for more...
You really don't taste the spinach, even though it's GREEN!!
This little Kidamerink even LOVES these "Icky" Green Smoothies. I typically freeze the leftovers in an ice cube tray to make into baby food, and then mix with oatmeal when defrosted. She loves it!
I love Green Smoothies because:
1. It Boosts your Kidamerink's Immunity
2. It gets them to eat their fruits and veggies, all in one serving
3. They are YUMMY!
Go Try it... don't be afraid of the GREEN!!
And, although I Covet this VitaMix Blender... My $40 blender does the trick!
